Only two days left before my vernissage. Two almost relaxed days, as my husband and I are already done with installing the pictures and objects at Combinat 56. Photographer Simone Naumann accompanied us for a while and took some cool pictures …

One focus in Simone’s photography is storytelling. No wonder her pictures and the altered books were getting on so well. You can find more of her pics from the exhibition set-up here .

ice cold stories
Your frosty smile –
maybe the tip of an iceberg that is melting.
Because
it can only be cool, the invitation
to follow the trace of your mammoth.

After I have been conserving stories in wax I naturally moved to ice. Frozen water immediately starts melting at room temperature – that fits very well to the stories that are also constantly changing their state. Keeping memories frozen must cost a lot of energy!

You can find more pictures of ice cold stories in this flickr-set.

Vernissage: Essence of Wondering
The long awaited day had come! Before the first guests came in, I took a few more pictures of my show. Later it really got too crowded for that. Many familiar faces had shown up, some surprise guests and also many people that I did not know. It was so moving to see them all in this special place!
The mayor of Zeulenroda payed me a huge compliment in his opening speech when he said that my works reminded him of Joseph Beuys. I loved the guitar and flute music (by the local music school) that framed the opening ceremony. Ute Arnold, museum director, called my show “enchanting”. That word also fits the gift that I received from the museum: tea, a little owl and two old books (see pictures at the end).

I was also delighted about the flowers, my first sales and, especially, the personal words that guests found to thank me. My vernissage could not have been more beautiful than that!

The “Essence of Wondering” is open for visitors until January, 19. If you can’t make it to Zeulenroda, have a look at my flickr-set.
